Hip 421 — Rated An “A” By McLean — Brings $240,000 To Jump Start Day 2 of Kentucky October Yearling Sale

Hip 421, a colt by Quality Road, sold for $240,000 early during the second session of the Kentucky October Yearlings sale. The bay colt was purchased by Golf 19/20 from the consignment of KatieRich Farms.

Quality Road is the leading general sire by Grade 1 winners this year, with Pegasus World Cup Invitational S. (G1) winner City of Light and Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Roadster, as well as Grade 1 winning fillies Bellafina and Dunbar Road. He is also the sire of Grade 1 winning colts Hootenanny and Klimt, and top handicap gelding Spring Quality.

This colt is out the winning A.P. Indy mare False Impression, already the dam of five winners, including multiple stakes winner Standard Deviation. That son Curlin is twice graded stakes placed, including when third in the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1). Second dam is Grade 2 winner and multiple graded stakes winner Classic Elegance, a half-sister herself to stakes winner Contributing and to the dam of Grade 1 winning millionaire Believe You Can.
